Salesforce.com and Cloud Apps Administrator

We use the best cloud/hosted/SaaS marketing software: Salesforce.com, ExactTarget, HubSpot, Jive, Central Desktop, Basecamp, Rackspace Cloud, shopping carts, and more. We need you to manage it all for us.

Start by improving how we use Salesforce.com. Improve our custom objects, workflow, and reporting. Clean up our homemade hacks into a clean, well-run system. Help us start using functionality that we haven’t even explored yet.

Your next projects could be:

  • Connect our HubSpot account to our WordPress websites and Salesforce.com.
  • Create different user rights on each platform so people can only see what they should.
  • Work with our designers to update the landing pages on ExactTarget to match our website.
  • Find a new hosted shopping cart solution that will connect to Salesforce.com and Authorize.net.

(If you aren’t clear on what these are and where to start, then this probably isn’t the right job for you.)

We need someone who can help us maximize out-of-the-box functionality. You shouldn’t be scared to hack it up, mash it up, add plug-ins, change things, make it better, and make it ours. We don’t need a hardcore coder or programmer, but an understanding of the basics will go a long way. We do need someone who is great at training our team and helping everyone use these tools the right way.

A home run: We get amazing systems and automation that makes us better at our jobs. You get to work and play with the coolest tools in the world.

You’re a star power-user of marketing technology who can:
  • Be the primary administrator for all of our hosted software tools.
  • Continually improve, optimize, customize, and add features and functionality.
  • Get our systems to play nicely with each other by improving integration.
  • Maintain the tools, manage users, and keep our licenses current.
  • Train our team and new hires.
  • Supervise contractors or designers hired to help with these projects.
  • Develop reports and metrics for each platform.
  • Constantly seek out, test, and implement new tools.
You:
  • Complete mastery in an all-online work environment, including hosted web apps.
  • 2+ years experience customizing and working with an array of hosted platforms.
  • Salesforce.com administrator experience.
  • Bonus if you are a Salesforce.com or ExactTarget certified administrator.
  • Probably an IT type, but not a programmer — or you might be a marketing type who has learned to master these platforms.
  • Love checklists, processes, and structure — we’re obsessed with improving how we work.
  • Effective communicator and writer who can document and explain things to end users.
  • Love to teach and see other people succeed with your work.
  • Embrace a small company culture (bonus: experience at a high-performing small business).
  • High levels of energy, drive, enthusiasm, initiative, flexibility, good humor, and commitment.
  • Honest, trustworthy, and ethical.
  • Nice to work with.
What it’s like to work with us:

Imagine never having another boring day at work. Imagine a place free of politics and whiners. Combine that with amazing energy and productivity that cranks out astonishingly good work every day. We don’t know it all, but we’re figuring it out together and having a great time doing it. See The Way We Work.

We pay slightly better than average (with decent benefits and a great health plan). This is a full-time, in-the-office position based in Chicago or Austin. No relocation assistance is provided, and we’re not looking for telecommuters.

About GasPedal and SocialMedia.org:

SocialMedia.org is the community for social media leaders at more than 180 of the world’s greatest brands, including Procter & Gamble, Dell, Wells Fargo, Microsoft, Home Depot, and many others (see socialmedia.org/members). We’re a small company who works with amazing people doing fantastic things in social media.

GasPedal teaches companies how to earn great word of mouth. Businesses everywhere are beginning to realize that honest, ethical customer love is the most powerful kind of marketing. They are learning to listen, to obsess over customer experience, to treat people like people, to value values, to respect the environment, to be part of the community — to be nice.

We teach them how to do it.

We believe that this is good for society — and that it’s a profitable business strategy. Companies that get their customers for free through the power of word of mouth have a fundamental competitive advantage over those that use expensive marketing to chase fleeing customers. Smart companies reinvest those savings in service, support, and innovation — putting them even further ahead.

GasPedal is a dream job if you are interested in blogs, social media, or the future of marketing. You won’t be just reading about the visionaries. You’ll be working with them to make the future more ethical and effective. Stop talking about this stuff — do something about it.
